LA MAREA began to take form in Charlotte, NC at the beginning of March of 2003, by initiative of Erick Orozco and Joswar Acosta that shared similar musical influences and a deep desire to spread "Rock in Spanish" to a local level, where English bands dominated the scene; with the exception of bands like Peralta or La Rúa that was pioneering Rock en Español to the scene of the state.

The beginning was difficult, and to find musicians ready to carry out the project was not an easy task. In spite of this La Marea was able to appear live and perform on a few occasions playing some covers of the Rock in Spanish genre opening show for the friends of La Rúa, who supported to the band offering their bassist. These presentations helped the band to put their name out and to gain experience. With rigorous practice and desire, the band begins to consolidate with the current line up: Joswar Acosta (vox and percussion), Pablo Pereyra (drums), Juan Ossa (bass), Erick Orozco (guitar) and Rafael Casella (saxofón and keyboards.)

Chemistry becomes evident and the band begins to be recognized appearing in several bars of the city. In summer of the 2005 a demo with 4 original songs is recorded first which were presented/displayed in the “Carlotan Rock Festival” of the same year where they share the scene with the groups: The Lunatic Soniko, Diazero, La Rúa, Bakalao Stars, One More Time and Mentes.

At the end of the same year Pablo Pereyra and Rafael Casella decided to return their country of Argentina, leaving a vacancy that was assumed almost immediately by Mr. Diego Sanchez in the drums, the connection was immediate.
